Glass beads

Produced from soda-lime, glass beads are used for peening and the removal of surface blemishes. Glass beads are perfectly spherical in shape with a smooth, shiny surface and also extremely hard. Their chemical inertness make them an attractive choice in many applications ensuring that neither the components to be treated nor the environment of the work station are contaminated by the blasting media. Being totally inert, there is also no risk of imparted corrosion effects.

Glass beads are particularly suitable for obtaining silk matte effects on high-grade steel sheet metals. They can be used for texturing or producing cosmetic finishes. Ceramic beads have similar uses as glass beads but may exhibit a substantially higher service life.
