Salt bath cleaning

Molten salt baths (bath temperature 200 °C to 650 °C) can be used, to clean components from number of dirts like oils, grease, paint, varnish, coatings, oxides, wax, glasses, plastics or moulding sands. The removal of the unwanted substances is mostly achieved by a thermo-chemical reaction between the mlten salt and the dirt.

For the variety of applications different methods are used. Salt bath cleaning combines high reactivity with a high solvent capacity, which allows for a fast and thorough cleaning. Cycle times vary from some seconds to a few minutes. After cleaning the components have to be rinsed with water, to bring the teperature down and to remove salt residue.
